The concept grew with wanting a dog bed that didn’t need to be thrown away after a few weeks / months of use. Every dog bed or kennel pad out there declares that its’ either 100% waterproof, odor resistant, indestructible or washable. Well, unless you can submerse your bed underwater without water penetration, then it’s not really waterproof. Very
few dog beds keep smelly odors from penetrating their fabric membrane cover. We also assure you, washing a dog bed cover in your washing machine isn’t the most appealing idea for most people. Plus, dogs will always find a way to destroy or chew a bed up over time, which we concur on that notion, but we make it harder to do. Well, that’s where we’re at today.
Using customer feedback, we found that people wanted a dog bed that could be used outside, such as kennels or patios, and that could withstand harsh outdoor conditions. Studies showed that most kennel dogs lay on concrete or wood platforms. Long periods of exposure to laying on hard surfaces can create Pressure Sores and lead to Bad Hips or Arthritis. Until WetMutt, giving a costly dog bed to outside dogs never seemed feasible.
