How We Discovered Hoss Straps at the 2026 HRC International Spring Grand

Sometimes the best products we find aren't products we're actually looking for.

That was the case with Hoss Straps.

We met Josh from Hoss Straps at the 2026 HRC International Spring Grand in Paducah, Kentucky, and he showed us his training collar strap setup. At first glance, it seems like a pretty simple idea. After he showed us how they worked, though, we immediately saw the advantage.

If you've spent much time training dogs, you've probably dealt with the same thing we have. You grab the dog's e-collar, feed the strap through the buckle, find the right hole, check the fit and tuck the extra strap away.

Then you take it all apart when you're finished.

Do that with several dogs during a training session and it gets old.

Hoss Straps came up with a much easier way to do it.

Set It for the Dog and You're Done

What really sold us on the Hoss Strap was how easy it was to use.

You adjust the strap to fit your dog correctly and, once you've got it where you want it, you leave it there.

The next time you need the collar, you put it around the dog's neck and clip it together. When you're finished training, release the clip and take it off.

There's no searching for the right hole every time. No feeding the strap through the buckle again. No guessing whether you had it on the fourth or fifth hole the last time.

It sounds like a little thing.

Until you've used one.

Then you start wondering why you've been messing around with a standard buckle collar for so long.

They Adjust to Fit Different Dogs

We also liked the amount of adjustment available in the Hoss Strap design.

Sporting dogs come in all sizes. Even if you only run Labs, there's a big difference between the neck on a smaller female and a big 80-pound male.

The Hoss Strap can be adjusted to get the fit where you want it. Once it's set up for that particular dog, you can leave the adjustment alone and simply use the clip to put the collar on and take it off.

For someone who trains one dog, it's convenient.

If you're running several dogs, training professionally, guiding, or spending a full day throwing marks and running setups, it becomes even more useful.

It's just faster.

An Excellent Upgrade for Garmin Collars

A lot of our customers use Garmin training equipment, and Hoss Straps work extremely well for building a better Garmin collar setup.

They're a great option for popular Garmin receivers used with systems such as the Garmin Pro 550, Pro 70 and Sport Pro, along with Garmin PT10 and PT6 receiver setups.

Instead of having the standard buckle-style strap on the receiver, the Hoss Strap gives you a quick on-and-off setup that stays adjusted for your dog.

Once we saw how it worked, we immediately understood why serious dog trainers would like it.

Dogtra Owners Should Take a Look at These Too

We don't want Dogtra users to think Hoss Straps are just a Garmin product.

They're also a great option for Dogtra training collar setups.

Dogtra has a huge following among retriever trainers, upland hunters, professional trainers and everyday dog owners, and we have plenty of HuntEmUp customers who prefer Dogtra equipment.

The same thing that makes a Hoss Strap useful on a Garmin setup applies to Dogtra.

Rather than repeatedly buckling and adjusting the traditional collar strap, you can set up the Hoss Strap for your dog and use the quick-release clip when putting the receiver on or taking it off.

If you're training regularly, that difference becomes noticeable pretty quickly.

It's especially nice if you have dedicated receivers for individual dogs. Get each collar adjusted the way you like it, and they're ready when the dogs come out of the truck.

Grab the collar.

Clip it on.

Train.

Unclip it when you're done.

That's really the beauty of the Hoss Strap.

There's nothing complicated about it.

We Liked Them Enough to Start Carrying Them

We see a lot of new dog products throughout the year, and we're pretty selective about what we add to HuntEmUp Outdoors.

There are plenty of products that look interesting at a trade show or event but don't necessarily solve a real problem.

Hoss Straps were different.

After meeting Josh in Paducah and getting our hands on the straps, we could immediately see ourselves using them. More importantly, we could see our customers using them.

That's usually a pretty good test for us.

So, HuntEmUp Outdoors is now carrying Hoss Straps.

And the lineup has already grown beyond the original straps that first caught our attention at the Grand.

New 3/4-Inch and 1-Inch Hoss Strap Designs

We're now offering the new 3/4-inch and 1-inch Hoss Strap designs, giving dog owners and trainers more choices when putting together their collar setup.

That means you can choose a strap based on the receiver you're using, your dog's size and your personal preference.

We're also carrying the Hoss Straps Pro models with the upgraded Pro clips.

For people who use their training equipment hard and want a more premium setup, we think the Pro models are definitely worth a look.

Between the different widths, designs and clip options, it's now possible to put together a Hoss Strap setup that works for just about any sporting dog.

A Simple Idea That Actually Makes Training Easier

We've been selling and using sporting dog equipment for a long time. We've watched products come and go, and we've seen plenty of things that were supposed to be the "next big thing."

That's probably another reason Hoss Straps impressed us.

They're not trying to reinvent dog training.

They just make one part of it easier.

Whether you're running a Garmin or Dogtra training collar, you're still going to put that receiver on your dog every time you train. If you're training regularly, you're going to do it hundreds of times throughout the year.

Why not make it easier?

Set the Hoss Strap to your dog's neck once and you've got a collar that's ready to go.

That's what Josh showed us at the HRC International Spring Grand in Paducah, and that's what made us want to bring Hoss Straps into HuntEmUp Outdoors.

Sometimes a really good dog training product doesn't need to be complicated.

It just needs to work.

We're excited to now offer Hoss Straps at HuntEmUp Outdoors, including the original training collar setups, the new 3/4-inch and 1-inch designs, and the Pro models with upgraded clips.

If you're running a Garmin or Dogtra training collar and you're tired of messing with a traditional buckle strap every time you put the collar on your dog, take a look at Hoss Straps.

We think you'll understand pretty quickly why they caught our attention in Paducah.
