MAXCAM7 POV Camera: A New Way to Capture Your Hunt | HuntEmUp Outdoors
MAXCAM7 POV Camera: A Hunting Camera That Caught Our Attention at the 2026 ATA Show
By HuntEmUp Outdoors
Every year, we attend the ATA Show looking for new products, innovative equipment, and companies that are bringing something worthwhile to the hunting industry. With so many manufacturers and new products on display, it takes something a little different to get our attention.
This year, while attending the 2026 ATA Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, we came across Maxcam and their MAXCAM7 POV hunting camera.
If you've been around hunting cameras for a while, the technology might look familiar. But there's a new name behind it, and after spending some time learning about the camera, we felt it was something our customers would want to know about.
We also had an opportunity to sit down with Andrew from Maxcam for a brief video interview to learn more about the company and the MAXCAM7.
What we found was a camera designed around something hunters have wanted for years: an easy way to record their hunts without having to worry about operating a camera when they should be concentrating on the action.
Meeting Maxcam at the ATA Show in Indianapolis
One of the things we enjoy most about attending industry shows is getting to meet the people behind the products.
It's one thing to read a manufacturer's description online. It's another to actually handle the equipment, ask questions, and get a better understanding of why a product was developed.
That's what made our visit with Maxcam interesting.
During our conversation with Andrew, we had the opportunity to learn more about the MAXCAM7 and the company's direction.
The camera itself is built specifically for hunters, shooters, and outdoor enthusiasts who want to capture their experiences from their own point of view.
For those who remember the original Tactacam POV cameras, Maxcam may be especially interesting. MaxView Optics has brought this familiar camera technology back to the market under the Maxcam name, with updated features and a renewed focus on the hunting and outdoor community.
And from what we learned at the show, there's plenty to like.

We always enjoy sharing these conversations because they give our customers an opportunity to hear directly from the people involved with the products we carry.
What Makes the MAXCAM7 POV Camera Different?
There are plenty of action cameras on the market, but not all of them are designed with hunters in mind.
Think about it. When a deer steps into your shooting lane, a turkey comes into range, or a flock of ducks is working the decoys, the last thing you want to do is mess around with a complicated camera.
You want to concentrate on the hunt.
That's where the MAXCAM7 point-of-view camera comes in.
Rather than requiring someone else to film your hunt, the MAXCAM7 can be mounted to compatible hunting equipment, allowing you to capture footage from your own perspective.
Whether you're bowhunting for whitetails, chasing spring gobblers, or spending a morning in the duck blind, a hands-free hunting camera gives you the opportunity to record moments that might otherwise be lost.
And those moments aren't always about harvesting an animal. Sometimes it's the deer that slips past unnoticed, the dog making a great retrieve, or the turkey that hangs up just outside your effective range.
Those are the experiences that make hunting memorable.
MAXCAM7 Features That Hunters Will Appreciate
The MAXCAM7 isn't simply a standard action camera with a hunting label attached to it. Its features are designed for outdoor recording.
4K Video Recording
The MAXCAM7 supports video recording up to 4K at 60 frames per second, allowing hunters to capture detailed footage of their outdoor experiences.
Whether you're recording a deer approaching your stand or watching ducks finish over the decoys, high-resolution video can make a big difference when reviewing your footage later.
Improved 8X Zoom
One of the challenges with traditional action cameras is that objects can appear much farther away than they actually are.
The MAXCAM7 offers adjustable zoom up to 8X, helping bring distant subjects closer in the recorded image.
That's particularly useful for deer hunting, turkey hunting, and other situations where the action may take place beyond close range.
Natural Point-of-View Recording
Many traditional action cameras use extremely wide-angle lenses that create a fisheye appearance.
The MAXCAM7 uses a lens design intended to produce a more natural perspective, closer to what you're actually seeing in the field.
For hunters who want their videos to represent the experience rather than an exaggerated wide-angle view, that's an important feature.
Electronic Image Stabilization
Hunting doesn't always involve standing perfectly still.
Whether you're shifting position in a treestand, tracking movement, or recording action in the field, camera shake can quickly ruin otherwise good footage.
The MAXCAM7 incorporates electronic image stabilization to help reduce unwanted movement and produce smoother videos.
One-Touch Recording
This might be one of our favorite features from a practical standpoint.
When something happens quickly, nobody wants to scroll through menus trying to get a camera recording.
The MAXCAM7 offers simple one-touch operation with vibration feedback to help confirm that recording has started.
It's a small detail, but one that makes sense for hunters.
Slow-Motion Video
The camera also supports 1080p recording at up to 120 frames per second.
That means you can slow down footage to review fast-moving action, whether it's an arrow leaving the bow, a clay target breaking, or a bird coming into the decoys.
Wi-Fi Connectivity and Smartphone Control
Using the Maxcam Connect app, hunters can connect the camera to a compatible smartphone to view footage, adjust settings, and download videos.
It's a convenient way to review what you've captured without having to wait until you get home.
Built for Outdoor Conditions
The MAXCAM7 is designed for demanding outdoor use, with water resistance, a rechargeable removable battery, and a manufacturer-rated recording time of up to 2.5 hours per charge.
Having the option to carry a spare battery is especially helpful when you're spending long days in the field.
A POV Camera for Deer Hunting, Turkey Hunting, and Waterfowl Hunting
One of the reasons we were interested in the MAXCAM7 is its versatility.
At HuntEmUp Outdoors, our customers participate in all kinds of hunting and outdoor activities. Some spend their fall in a whitetail treestand, others travel across the country chasing waterfowl, and plenty of our customers are involved in sporting dog training and field activities.
The MAXCAM7 has applications across many of these interests.
Deer Hunting and Bowhunting
For bowhunters, capturing a hunt on video can be challenging, especially when hunting alone.
A bow-mounted POV camera provides another way to record the experience without managing a separate camera setup.
It can also be useful when reviewing shot placement or sharing a successful hunt with friends and family.
Turkey Hunting
Anyone who has hunted spring gobblers knows how quickly things can happen once a bird commits.
A turkey can spend an hour gobbling from a distance and then suddenly appear right in front of you.
Having a compact hunting camera ready to record can make it easier to capture those exciting moments.
Duck and Goose Hunting
As waterfowl hunters ourselves, we can certainly appreciate the opportunity to record a great morning in the blind.
Watching a group of mallards finish into the decoys, capturing a flock of Canada geese working a spread, or recording a retriever making a memorable retrieve are all moments worth saving.
With the proper mounting accessories, a MAXCAM7 can be a useful addition to your waterfowl hunting equipment.
Sporting Dog Training and Outdoor Activities
The MAXCAM7 isn't limited to hunting.
There are also opportunities to use a POV camera while working with sporting dogs, participating in shooting sports, fishing, or enjoying other outdoor activities.
For trainers, having video footage can be helpful when reviewing certain activities or sharing training sessions with others.
Is the MAXCAM7 Worth Considering?
We get asked all the time about new products and whether they're worth the investment.
Our approach has always been to look for equipment that serves a practical purpose.
The MAXCAM7 addresses a real challenge for hunters who want to record their experiences without having to turn every hunting trip into a full video production.
It's compact, offers high-resolution recording, includes features designed for hunting, and provides mounting options for different applications.
Does everyone need a camera on their hunting equipment? Of course not.
But if you've ever wished you had video of a big buck walking past your stand, a turkey coming in on a string, or a great retrieve by your dog, you can probably see why this type of camera has become popular.
And with the MAXCAM7, the technology is specifically geared toward capturing those moments.
