It’s been three years since a Garmin Ltd. subsidiary had agreed to acquire Tri-Tronics Inc., The leader in electronic dog collar technology.
Garmin, the navigation device-maker which has its USA operational base in Olathe, KS has purchased Tri-Tronics to strengthen its position in the market for tracking and training sporting dogs and pets.
Garmin’s entry to the market with Astro, a GPS dog-tracking system for hunters that pinpoints the exact location on dogs afield. Earlier the company launched a cellular-based GTU 10 GPS locator and Web-based Garmin Tracker for computers and smartphones, according to the release.
In a written statement by Garmin President and COO Cliff Pemble “By integrating the two companies, we believe we can leverage our areas of expertise into products that can greatly enhance the way that dog owners interact with their canine companions,” and “This acquisition should demonstrate without a doubt that Garmin is fully committed to developing innovative products for the canine market.”
Release of the Garmin Pro Series
Earlier this year, the release of the Garmin Pro 550, Pro 70 and Pro Trashbreaker appears to have completed the transition to the Garmin name. The only open ended question is what happens with the Pro Control System? There are rumblings that the new Pro Control will really be a step up and have the same quality and effectiveness as the previous systems. The Pro 550 has been a huge hit with the Hunt Test and Field Trailers and the Garmin Pro 70 and the “Trash Breaker” continue to be favorite of the Coon Dog and Tracking groups! The Delta series of remote dog training is an easy-to-use controller and receiver system that sets a new standard in remote dog training. Features include easy-to-read LCD screen, convenient side buttons for dog selection (supports up to 3 dogs with additional dog devices) and training level adjustment. It has 3 front control buttons for stimulation, tone and/or vibration; plus range of up to ½ mile. Garmin Delta transmitters can even remember an individual dog’s training settings and is optimized to work with coat lengths and breeds.

In effort to support all its collar customers garmin is now shipping all Tri-Tronics products from the Garmin headquarters in Olathe, KS. Customer service is also bening offered throught the Olathe, KS offices.
Since the release of the Garmin Delta, Delta Sport and the Pro Series 550, 70 and Trashbreaker it appears that the transition has been successful!
