Garmin Releases the New PRO 70 Training Collar

Garmin has replaced the Tri-Tronics Classic 70 with the NEW Garmin PRO 70 and with a retail price less than the previous TriTronics Classic 70 system. This full-size, full-range remote training collar is a rugged and
durable performer of the Garmin line of dog training collars. This simple one button design has been popular for almost 40 years because of its ease of use!

So, what’s new?

The new PRO 70 Series incorporates the following new features:
Built in Bark-Limiter Collar
White Beacon lights controlled from the handheld transmitter
Smaller Lithium Ion Batteries, lighter than previous models

Stay with what works!

Garmin has kept the same feel and look of the handheld transmitter and the same time tested feel and one-handed operation that the previous Tri-Tronics Field and Pro units have used for years!

Other than a couple cosmetic modifications the transmitter is the same, offering a similar feel in the buttons, dial and toggle switch. With similar locations it is quick and easy to select the correct dog and select the correct stimulation level as needed, keeping your concentration on your dog and not your equipment!

Control the Collar Lights from the Transmitter!

Similar to the old TriTronics Tracer collar light, the PRO 70 offer a whit beacon light that is operated from the transmitter that allows you to easily locate and track your dog in the dark. Visible from up to 100 yards this great safety feature also allows other to spot your dog before it’s too late!

This feature offers an excellent solution for Coon hunters running through the night, upland hunters heading in from a day in the field and waterfowl hunters heading out in the early morning out in the dark. Let’s not forget about that nightly neighborhood walk…

How about the batteries?

Fast charge Lithium-ion batteries weigh less than the previous older batteries and are user replaceable, both in the collar receiver and the handheld transmitter! New batteries offer approximately 60 hours of battery life, offer 3-5 years of life and feature a LED battery charge indicator.

Now with a Bark-Limiter built in!

All new PRO series collar systems have a built in Bark-Limiter. This feature allows you to turn your training collar into a bark collar by selecting at the on/off button on the collar receiver itself. Just hold down the power button. When the receiver enters bark collar mode, the signal light on the collar will notify you by turning blue!

The collar will then operate just like the Garmin Bark-Limiter! In this mode the Autorise feature will correct your dog at the lowest level and increases the stimulation level until it reaches the desired level to eliminate barking.

Picking the right electronic dog collars for training your dog

Picking the right electronic dog collars for training your dog isn’t an easy process. The market is flooded with models new and old with more bells and whistles than most hunting dog owners know what to do with. Popular models include:

What do you need?

Depending on your goals, needs, and training style – and on your dog’s personality and level of training – you may find that an electronic dog collar that works for your neighbor might not be the right choice for you. Where should you begin?

Focus on Education

E-collars are not shortcuts to good training – they should be used as reminders and correction after your dog has been familiarized with basic commands. Look for models that:

* Come with detailed instruction manuals or training videos.
* Have packaging and features that emphasize training – not punishing.

Get An Electronic Dog Collar You Can Count On

A collar that only works in ideal conditions or only for a short time won’t do you or your dog any good. Look for models that:

* Have a good reputation for sturdy construction and consistency.
* Are water resistant or water proof – particularly if your dog will be hunting and training near ponds or lakes or in inclement weather.

Keep it simple

Choose user-friendly collars – you don’t want to spend time dedicated to training your dog on training yourself to use an overly complicated electronic collar. Pick out a collar that:

* Can be operated sight-free. You don’t want to have to look at the transmitter each time your dog needs a correction – the teaching moment may be gone before you figure out what to press.
* Has a transmitter that fits easily in your pocket or can be comfortably clipped to your belt.

Know your options

Some dogs respond better to momentary stimulation, while others require longer, constant stimulation to correct behaviors. Choose models that have both options. Purchase an e-collar that:

Has both nick and constant options.
Allows you to switch easily between the two.

A variety of stimulation levels is key

Doling out the same level of punishment for something as simple as misunderstanding a training command as for a more severe offense like chasing down a bird, doesn’t make sense to your dog. Look for electronic dog collars that:

* Allow you to use a variety of levels of shock for a range of durations.
* Have a cut-off feature that prevents causing actual harm to your dog through over-stimulation during training.

In 2011 the merger of Garmin and Tri Tronics allowed the combined company to expand their leadership position in both the tracking and training of sporting dogs and household pets alike. Their combined teams will work together to develop cutting-edge products that will help dog owners more effectively train their dogs and keep them safer. Together, these innovative design teams are bringing products to market quicker, with more features, and at a competitive price.

The Tri-Tronics Classic 70, Pro 500, and Trashbreaker training systems have been a staple for years in the Dog Training world and now the these combined technologies have brought us the Garmin Pro 70, Pro 550, and Pro Trashbreaker. Classic, Rugged Design

The PRO 70 uses the tried and true tube-shaped design that trainers have come to love, but is easy to operate (and master) 1-handed so you can keep your eyes on your dog at all times, even while switching between stimulation levels and dogs.

The stimulation level/tone/LED selection dial is at the top of the handheld unit, allowing intuitive operation. And the multi-dog toggle switch and the color-coded buttons comfortably line up in the hand for fingertip control.

A 2 ½-inch fixed transmitter antenna eliminates the threat of a lost or broken antenna while delivering up to 1 mile range.

Train with Stimulation and Tone

Choose from 6 levels of continuous stimulation or a tone setting for up to 6 dogs at a time (additional dog devices required; purchase separately). Stimulation strength has been increased at the top setting for enhanced effectiveness and choice over the entire range.

You can also remotely operate the LED beacon lights, built-in to the dog device, to help locate your dog in low light conditions.

Built-in BarkLimiter

PRO 70 features a built-in BarkLimiter, activated by the dog device. BarkLimiter features AutoRise technology, which automatically adjusts correction to the optimum level needed to stop unwanted barking.

Tough, Water-resistant, Long-lasting

Both the handheld transmitter and the dog device collar are designed to withstand all the blows, bumps, and sloppy conditions of training and hunting.

The dog device comes with 2 lengths of removable, stainless, insulated contact points for reliable performance in wet conditions and extended comfort for the dog. The dog device is water-rated to 1 ATM (10 meters).

The PRO 70 handheld itself is water-rated to IPX7. The transmitter and dog device both feature a long-lasting, rechargeable, lithium-ion battery. A battery life indicator on the transmitter and dog device lets you know when to recharge the system.

Collar Pairing
